Today started with an early wake up time of 5:30 AM. It left everyone pretty tired, but thankfully we were able to get some extra rest on the long ride to our first destination: an elementary school in Tarcoles. The team held two sessions there. Both were full of fun games, snacks, dances, and crafts! There may have been a lot of bugs, but every team member was too engulfed in the loving hugs given by the students.
After driving about forty minutes to a small church, the team ate lunch and then had some down time during which almost everyone took a much needed nap. We set up for the next session of VBS just as the room filled with almost one hundred kids and some of their parents. The group was so big that after singing and dancing, we had to divide the kids into two groups. One team handled the Bible story and crafts while the other played games and laughed themselves silly. We took a break to eat snow cones before switching groups and then ended our final session with the "Creere" drama. Many hugs were exchanged after the pastor of the church gave a brief gospel presentation and the team celebrated their final day of ministry with ice cream from Pops.
Tonight's Bible study was a much longer as the team desired to spend some extra time in praise and worship. Each team member and team leader has been challenged this week, and our prayer is that as we return to "normal" life tomorrow, the lessons and challenges of this week will not be forgotten. Please pray for safety as the team travels home tomorrow, but more importantly, may the lessons and challenges on being a disciple as we minister be taken seriously and continue to change our lives.
