The team enjoyed a slow morning because our first VBS of the day was not until later. Many of the team members were up at 6:00 to go swimming in the pool even though breakfast wasn't being served until 8:00!
When we all packed up the bus, we set off to the first school. The sun was blazing and everybody was sweating, but we enjoyed some shade under the covered stage. We sang multiple songs with the kids, and then we had to use their entire front yard to fit the students into the games. Everybody enjoyed the parachutes! After a few groups from this school watched the drama and did the crafts, we packed up the bus again and set off to Pastor Jonathan's (local pastor we work with) church. There, we ate some delicious hamburgers that surely reminded the whole team of home. Thankfully, we got a long break during which the whole team was able to rest and take some naps. When everyone was rejuvenated, we packed up the bus again and set off to a school we visited yesterday. The kids we talked to were new to the lesson, but they responded really well! We then returned to the school from this morning to finish the day with a new group. Before heading back to camp we made a few special trips. First, we let the team try some walking-taco-type snacks that were made with raw fish! Of course, only a few students had any interest in this, but it sure made for a new experience. Then, we stopped for a super quick supermarket run. The day was full and everyone will definitely sleep well tonight before the teen outreach day tomorrow!
