Today's experience in the schools was a little different. The team went to a town called Tarcoles to a prominent high school which prides itself on cultivating a community free of violence, drugs, and bullying while offering a high-quality education. High schoolers of varying ages joined the team in an open air gymnasium. It was a much more formal environment then where we had been the last couple of days. We played a lot of fun games to engage all the kids and went through the same ESL program as before. The drama presentation ran into some technical difficulties at first, but by the grace of God, we were able to resolve them and perform for the kids. A major difference about today's program was the opportunity for some of the team members to share their testimonies. Avery, Elizabeth, Gabby, Maria, and Maddy, with Josue translating, shared about what Jesus had done in their personal lives in front of our sessions today. This was a nerve racking experience for some that required a lot of courage. Overall we saw great responses to our message today.
The team ended mission work at the school early, and ended up with some extra time. We started the adventure at La Playa Jacó. Everyone took a lot of pictures and got their pants drenched in the ocean water! After doing our very best to wash off our sandy feet, the team went to Pop's ice cream shop for a refreshing treat! Once everyone had finished, we hopped back on the bus and headed back to Camp Brittney, but made a special stop at the crocodile bridge to spot the huge animals taking a nap. Our team members then sauntered around a small tourist shop for a while before resuming the journey back to camp.
Tomorrow will be very different from our first three days of ministry. We will be doing a sports competition day, so please pray for an injury free day for all the teens! We are expected to work with about 50 teens tomorrow. Please pray for our team members as they work to cultivate relationships and share the Gospel.
