We kicked off the day at 8:00 am with breakfast and ice breaker activities! We stretched, listened to worship music, played four square, and played some other games in Spanish and in English. We then went into lesson time; the team split off to work on personal devotions while a lesson was given to the pastors' kids.
We joined back together to play four-way tug-of-war and a relay race in the swimming pool! The team played with the kids in the swimming pool and had an impromptu game of soccer. We then had lunch, which consisted of the standard beans and rice as well as plantains. After lunch, some of the team members taught the Costa Ricans how to play spikeball. We had a massive relay race with four teams. We played five games that included all the members of each team.
The team and the kids once again split up, this time so we could a team meeting. We prayed together and went through the Bible study that we had done individually earlier in the day. We discussed what the rest of the day would look like; however, we emphasized that plans can and do change rapidly... Which they did. A storm blew through and it rained very violently for a couple of hours.
The rest of the evening, we enjoyed playing games with the Costa Ricans and with each other. We ate dinner and then split into new teams for some games. We split between guys and girls and played various team games. The night was capped off with some of the team members being forced to jump into the pool.
Please pray that the weather cooperates for the rest of the trip and that relationships continue to flourish!
